Our Ailing Environment And Efforts To Save The Earth

Our Mother Earth is critically suffering, and manifestations are prevalent everywhere. While the man is the first to endure the consequences of the deteriorating environment, it is the man who inflicted the damages that result in it. The way of life of man is potentially imposing irreversible harm to nature. And now, we all fear climate change and the impacts it brings. The warming of Earth has compelling evidence of future shrouded in uncertainties if we slow any attempts to save the environment.

The Significance of Environment to Human

The Earth is the only home for humans in the entire universe, and it provides all that it requires to preserve life and flourish. A healthy ecosystem supports a myriad of species, living and non-living, which help in the process of cycling elements and nutrients. This cycle creates something useful for humans, and this symbiotic relationship between man and his environment is the essence of life since the beginning of time.
More provisions of the ecosystem are vital to life, like water, clothing, medication, and fuels. On top of that, a perfect environment ensures enough oxygen while regulating carbon, temperature, and even moderating damage caused by natural disasters. Biodiversity impacts life on Earth through the natural cycling of elements that support growth.

State of Our Environment Today

Concerned scientists and agencies around the globe work hand in hand to monitor the status of Earth. Unfortunately, our environment continued to degrade despite the global efforts to establish sustainable solutions.

Extensive dumping of wastes disrupts the ecological balance. Deforestation and indiscriminate burning of fossil fuels increase carbon dioxide to cause global warming. The rivers and oceans contain toxic substances to collapse marine life. Destructive agricultural and industrial practices degrade more than ten percent of soil quality to decline food production. The impacts are nearing the limits to paralyzing the life-sustaining coordination and resources of our ecosystem. Any activity that furthers the deterioration will alter the future of the world that supports life.

Efforts to Save Our Earth

As the world becomes more aware, movements to save the Earth entice more members to participate in achieving the goal. The call to combat climate change resulted in 280 active campaigns joined by over 700,000 members around the globe. From a coal-free world to pressuring entities and public figures to go green and clean, the crusades have an unlimited scope in driving for a sustainable change. The Environmental Protection Agency has plans and rules to curb toxic emissions to all sources and outlines innovation for renewable alternatives. Countries around the globe have similar drive and responses to end climate change.
More global organizations, like Slow Food and Think.Eat.Save is on a mission to change the way of life of people. Opting for local foods and reducing food wastes are necessary steps toward the reduction of natural resources consumption and greenhouse emission. Moreover, the United Nations Environment Programme coordinates environmental activities in implementing policies and practices essential to save the Earth.

 It's Now or Never

According to climate scientists, we only have twenty years before the damage to Earth will be irreparable. The extent of climate change will have terrifying consequences. Extreme droughts, pandemic, and famine will become seasonal as the devastations caused by hurricanes, floods, and wildfires. Earth needs urgent help to heal. And man has the capabilities to make it happen for his own sake.
